22 weeks

We had our 22 week appointment this week. Baby's heartbeat remains steady in the 140s and Dr. says my belly is measuring right on track with the August 30 due date. The doctor was surprised when I lifted up my shirt to see I was still wearing regular pants (unbuttoned and practically unzipped of course). I'm noticing my regular pants are definitely getting tighter and shirts getting shorter. I guess it's about time for maternity clothes!

Not much new to report since last time. Feeling more and more movement every day, such a cool and reassuring feeling! Still feeling good for the most part. I get pretty tired in the afternoons, wishing my office had a lounge area so I could take a quick nap, but other than that I'm good! Sometimes I even forget I'm pregnant and then I remember and just laugh to myself. Gotta love that pregnancy brain! Such a real thing!

No food aversions to speak of, everything tastes extra yummy these days, even broccoli. I was making dinner the other night and ate some raw broccoli because I was starving and man, I don't remember broccoli ever tasting so good!

Haven't been running much, although I did bust out 6 miles the other day and felt pretty good. My pace has slowed by about 1 minute/mile. Mostly been walking/hiking when I can and going to yoga classes once or twice a week. I'm gaining about 1 pound per week pretty consistently, up 12 pounds overall.

I'm celebrating a milestone birthday on Sunday - the big 30. We are getting away to Monterey for a night to celebrate. I'm looking forward to kayaking with some otters and smelling that salty ocean air! Still can't quite believe I'm actually 30 years old. It is so crazy how fast time flies by! This ecard sums up my feelings toward turning 30 pretty perfectly.

I'm excited to celebrate this milestone birthday and even more excited for what the new decade will bring.

20 Weeks

20 weeks and halfway through this pregnancy! It is finally starting to feel real and slowly sinking in. Just 4 ½ months to go before our world is completely changed forever and we couldn’t be more excited.

Starting to feel lots of movement in there! The first time I felt the baby move was on April 1 at the Oakland A’s opening game. The stadium was packed and it was super loud and this little babe was definitely responding to all of the excitement. Still, I wasn’t convinced that what I was feeling was baby. Two weeks and one ultrasound later, I’m sure.

We had our 20 week ultrasound this week, also known as the gender reveal ultrasound. It was a little hard knowing the technician could have told us right then and there ‘boy’ or ‘girl’, but we definitely want to wait until baby is born to find out. Which means we have to come up with a boy and girl name! Names are seriously so hard! We have a list going, but probably won’t decide until we see his or her little face. If you have any name suggestions, send them my way!

The ultrasound showed us baby is right on track and everything is looking good. Baby Young measured in the 52 percentile, so about average, not too big and not too small. Baby was showing us all sorts of tricks, turning upside down and moving its arms and legs. The technician joked that just as she was about to snap the image she needed, baby would move again.

I broke down and bought Baby Young some outfits this week. It's probably a good thing we aren't finding out the sex because it would be very hard not to rush out and buy a closet full of clothing for our little one! Seriously, how cute are baby clothes?!

It's pretty hard finding gender neutral baby clothes, but I fell in love with both outfits as soon as I saw them and could easily picture a boy or girl in either one.

Any guesses on boy or girl?
